Our Girls in the Know Speakers

Lisa Deutsch, MSW. LCSW
Graduated from Washington University with a Masters of Social Work degree. Worked 7 years at the Physical Rehabilitation unit at Barnes Jewish Hospital and two years at St. Johns Rehabilitation. For the last four years Lisa has been the facilitator for two girls programs, one being "It's a Girl's Thing" and the other "Strong Girls". In the past, Lisa has co-facilitated an 8th grade drug awareness program "Now n L8r".


Shellie Fidell, MSW, LCSW
Shellie is a psychotherapist in private practice in St. Louis Missouri.  Shellie specializes in women’s issues including postpartum adjustment, depression during pregnancy, pregnancy loss and panic and anxiety disorders.  Prior to 1999 Shellie worked as a medical social worker at Barnes Jewish Hospital.Shellie graduated in 1994 from Washington University’s George Warren Brown School of Social Work. In 2007 Shellie completed her post graduate training at the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute graduating from their Advanced Psychodynamic  Psychotherapy Program. Shellie’s quotes have been published in National Magazines such as Working Woman , Parents Magazine and Fit Pregnancy as well as St. Louis Women Magazine.  She also appears monthly on "Great Day St. Louis".

Sgt. Cheryl Funkhouser
Cheryl has been a police officer for 17+ years.  She has worked for the Chesterfield Police Department for 15 years, and has spent the last five of those years as a Police Sergeant/Supervisor. She currently supervises the Community Affairs Unit at the Chesterfield Police Department, and has a police background that includes teaching D.A.R.E, conducting Crime Prevention presentations for citizen and business groups and coordinating safety programs for children.   She has a Bachelors degree in Human Resource Management and an Associates degree in Criminal Justice.  In her time away from work she enjoys hiking, biking, camping, and shopping.

Sara Hoffstot, MA, LPC
Sara
Hoffstot graduated with a M.A. in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University. Practicing in the mental health field for over a decade in agency settings with a plethora of populations, Sara decided that it was time to begin her business venture into the private practice atmosphere.  Sara specializes in working with college students, parents, couples, and professionals.

Police Officer Kimberly Huffman
Kim has been in Law Enforcement for 11 years, 3 of which have been with the Chesterfield Police Department. The majority of the past 11 years has been spent working as a street officer.  For the past 2 years  she has  worked as a Community Affairs officer with duties that have included teaching DARE, teaching lessons to students within the Parkway District (she does this in coordination with the principals since DARE is no longer taught in the Parkway District), giving public presentations on a variety of issues, and coordinating the Neighborhood Watch program.

Jessica Janik MS, LD, RD
Jessica is currently working as a dietician at Lifetime Fitness. Her experience as a Registered and Licensed dietician was enhanced while developing and implementing a nutrition program into  the Saint Louis University Athletic Department. Her role allowed her to counsel and educate over 300 student-athletes on issues such as eating-disorders, calorie needs, hydration, vitamins and minerals, and weight management. She has also broadened her skills  with a Master's degree in Nutrition and Physical Performance from Saint Louis University to supplement her undergraduate degrees in both Public Relations and Dietetics from Illinois State University. Her professional experiences include addressing the local youth through the SLU's USDA grant " Gardens to Tables", volunteering at Community School's Girl's on the Run Team, providing grocery store tours and cooking demonstrations for adolescents.

Paula McMaster, MA
Paula i
s a certified school counselor with Ladue School District.  Prior to working as a counselor, Paula was a therapist for 9 years at an alternative middle- and high-school working with adolescents to overcome emotional and behavioral struggles so that they could function successfully in a school setting.  Paula specializes in working with children and adolescents, especially with preteen and adolescent females regarding self-esteem and body image issues.  She is passionate about helping girls to see themselves as strong, capable, connected beings and maintaining this belief throughout the adolescent years.  She has facilitated a variety of groups, including Women’s Groups, Girl Talk, Empowering Young Women and Girls On The Run, as well as providing parent education and training through Love & Logic.  Her work over the years has reached many young girls. Paula graduated from Saint Louis University in 1997 with a Master’s degree in counseling and completed graduate work to obtain her school counselor certification from the State of Missouri in 2008.  Paula lives in St. Louis with her 2 daughters.

Dr. Denise Meckler OB/GYN
Denise received her undergraduate degree from Duke University in 1988 and went to Medical School at Ohio State University from 1988-1992. Denise then did her residency at Barnes Hospital from 1992-1996. Since 1996 she has been working in her own private practice in obstetrics and gynecology at the University Club Towers with several other doctors. She treats patients from the ages of 11 to 95 years old. Denise speaks Spanish fluently, loves traveling and eating chocolate.

Dr. Caroline Morgan OB/GYN
Dr. Morgan joined the Women's Health Care Inc. in 2006 after completing her post-graduate training at Washington University, affiliated with Barnes Jewish Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Medical College of Ohio. Dr. Morgan thoroughly enjoys working with young women and being their first contact with woman's health and the OB/GYN experience. When she  is not busy working, you can find her on her horses or walking her dogs.

Jenn Randazzo MS, LD,R
D

Jenn is the founder of NOURISH which is a premier nutrition consulting and communications practice headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. Jenn has been a practicing dietitian for several years and has already made significant, meaningful contributions to the field and public community. As a graduate student, she currently is involved in multiple research studies and  her past experience includes working as a community, corporate and clinical dietitian. Jenn completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Dayton, and graduated with a BS in Education and Allied Health in 2005. She excelled during her dietetic internship at Saint Louis University, and became a graduate assistant while pursuing her MS in Medical Dietetics.

Suzanne Rodgers, MA, LPC
Suzanne Rodgers graduated with her M.A. in School and Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University.  After working over ten years in education, Suzanne realized her passion was with helping children, families, and administrators through presentations in the community and in one on one and family counseling.  Graduating with her dual masters, she decided to open up her private practice, Living Well By Design.  It is through her private practice that she is able to live her dream of educating and helping children, families and administrators through custom counseling (individual, couples, and families), luxury counseling (webcam, seminars, and or groups), and refinement counseling (presentations, seminars, and or groups).  Suzanne specializes with working with clients who are experiencing life transitions, unresolved childhood trauma, grief and loss, couples, parenting, and clinical hypnotherapy. Suzanne is also currently a School Counselor at Claymont Elementary in  the Parkway School District. 

Police Officer Susan Shields

Susan has been a police officer at St Charles City for 8 years. She has worked in a variety of positions at the department, including a 1 year stint in an undercover position. She is currently a DARE/SRO officer at 7 different schools in St Charles.  Susan has  a Masters degree in Criminal Justice.  She has  been married for 8 years and her husband is a history teacher at St Charles West and a varsity baseball coach.  She has 2 wonderful kids; a daughter who is 4 and a son who is 2.
