The Girls in the Know Speaker Series is designed for 5th and 6th grade girls and their moms to discuss life's most important topics:
*Empowerment *Self Esteem * Friendships * Bullying * Nutrition *Exercise * *Body Image *Eating Disorders *Cell Phone & Internet Safety * Home Alone & Sleepover Safety * Puberty * Menstruation * Female Anatomy * Male Anatomy and much more! Led by a group of women professionals this month long, interactive program, meets weekly, to promote open communication between mothers and daughters while encouraging positive behaviors and decisions as pre-teen girls mature into adulthood.
SESSION ONE: "Empowering Your Pre-Teen Daughter" Learn ways to empower your daughter ~ and yourself too! Led by: Betsy Rubenstein, LCSW, MS
SESSION TWO: "Promoting A Healthy Body Image" A discussion about her inner beauty, and much more.... Led by: Anne Leavell, MS, RD, LDN, CDE
SESSION THREE: "All About Safety: Internet, Cell Phones, Home & Away"
Is your daughter really safe? Led by: Chicago Police Woman
SESSION FOUR:"The Birds & The Bees:
What Pre-Teen Girls Should Know" The facts about puberty, menstruation and how babies are really made. Led by: Dr. Mia Norlin, OB/GYN
